 I needed to change days this week so I came over on Thursday instead of Friday.
We worked on flashcards, exercises, he wasn't too happy about that  (oh damn) he wanted to go to Home Depot. He ended up getting a yellow cactus. We went to  lunch at Burger King and then I dropped him off.

February, 24, 2015

I brought over some more pictures for flash cards and I cut them out and we talked about those. We did exercises, and he did really well today. He was able to pay attention to them. We went up for lunch and then he needed more drinks and razors. He had enough for one or the other, he chose 7-Up. We went to Walgreen's to pick that up. I helped him put them away and then I explained to him again that I wouldn't be over on Friday. I'll see him next Tuesday.

I tried something a little new today. I made separate words to form a sentence with 3 separate words for Michael to choose how the sentence should end. Ex.'I have a purple... car, boat, truck'. He did pretty good at it. He needed a little help to put the the words in the right order. I think I'll add this in with what we do already. He wanted to go to D.I. and he pointed out Millie's on the way and said he wanted to go there afterwards. On the way home he wanted to go to Home Depot. We ran out of time again :/ I'll try and take him on Thursday. I know he really wants to plant some flowers in his flower pots. 
(I'm coming over Thursday this week instead of Friday).

Michael did exercises using letters instead of numbers. We worked on phrases and sentences. Michael had made a list for the store! Good job. We had a Valentine's lunch upstairs and then we went to Walgreen's and got the things he had on his list. He was good at explaining what should go on the shopping list.

Today when we did exercises and since Michael has been having a hard time counting, we did exercises today using letters instead. It went ok. We had lunch upstairs and then he wanted to go to D.I. We came back and I helped him in the shower.

We went to D.I. then the thrift store next door and McDonald's for lunch. Michael wanted to go to Home Depot to look at plants. We didn't have time today but will maybe we can go on Tuesday.

Michael was upstairs sitting in a chair with his coat on. We went down and did his exercises and worked on sentence structure and then we had lunch upstairs. He was telling me he wanted to go to the zoo! He's never brought that up before. I showed him pictures, and that's what he wanted so we headed over to the zoo. I didn't think we would be there as long as we were. It was fun. The zoo has really changed since they re did it. We got to see a lot of different animals. He wanted to go other places afterwards too but I told him I had to go. I won't be going over on Friday, I spent the weeks worth of time with him today! ;) I'm glad he wanted to go to the zoo.

We did exercises and some of Michael's word matching. He said he wanted to go to "Back and forth". I couldn't figure out what he meant but he directed me to to Backyard Birds. I found him standing in line with a pair of earrings! I told him I didn't need them and they were expensive. He then directed me to what I thought would be D.I. but he said "Not that one but the one next to it". I found a vest that I liked and told Michael that I would be right back. I needed to go and get some money from my car. When I came back in, he had already been rung up. He said he bought it for himself ;) the girl laughed and said something like 'that will look really good on you'. I paid him back and then we went to D.I. and when we walked in he said "Let's buy the store".

I wasn't feeling good today. I will see Michael on Friday.

I usually go downstairs to see Michael. Today though, I decided I'd go up to the lobby, he's been waiting for me up there a lot lately. I went up there and he wasn't there. He was in his room. Ha ha... He even had a flannel shirt on! I was telling him he needed to start to wear other shirts especially in winter when its cold. He looked nice today. He wanted to go out right away but I told him we needed to do his exercises first. He had some choice words but he did a good job. We worked on speech exercises and fill in the blank too. We had lunch upstairs. He was showing me he was out of razors. I mentioned to him that I couldn't stay long today. He told me in the car that he needed two things. When we got to Walgreen's he started looking around for more things. We ended up leaving though. I hope he has a nice weekend. We highlighted some rides for him to go on this weekend. 

Michael got his hair cut! It looks nice. He was waiting for me upstairs, he wanted to show me something, we went down to his room and he was showing me the containers that the bird food was in. We got it figured out and talked about going to Walmart to get more. We worked on his exercises first and then went and picked up some bird food. We went to Wendy's for lunch and he was saying that he really liked it there. I'll have to remember that. We came back and filled his containers full of bird food. He didn't want a movie put in today. 

Michael was upstairs watching the cooking group make rice krispie treats. He didn't want to help but just watch ;) He wasn't interested in it for long. He showed me the new watch that he got when he went out with Jerry yesterday. It's nice and big so he can see it a lot easier. He said that it glowed in the dark too :) that's helpful... He had a hard time today with the usual exercises and all exercises. We did his exercises and I thought since he was having a hard time, it would be good to do the tongue exercises and having him do sounds too. He just really had a hard time focusing and following directions. I had him take a few five minute breaks today. We finally ended up going to Walgreen's and picking up more for him to drink. I put his drinks away and walked him up to lunch.

I think Michael cheered me up a little bit. I was kind of sad today. My brother, sister in law and nephew left today back to Thailand :( It was good to see Michael today though. We just worked on his exercises and his words. We did a few from each list, the Monosyllabic, bi-syllabic and trisyllabic words. We made a list and then went to Walgreen's and came back and had lunch. 

We visited for a little bit today and then worked on exercises that we haven't done for a while and also his words, phrases and sentences, fill in the blank and word matching. We went upstairs for lunch and then we put his Christmas tree away and left some things out for winter. I straightened out his closets and then helped him with a movie before I left. He was watching The Santa Clause.
